DuPont to feature  advanced mobility solutions at TMC 2024 in China

Qingdao, China, July 4, 2024—DuPont (NYSE:DD) is participating at the 16th Automotive Powertrain Technology Congress (TMC 2024) at booth no. 58,  in Qingdao, China,  July 4th-5th. At TMC 2024, DuPont will exhibit its next-generation MOLYKOTE® specialty lubricants and Vespel® parts and shapes portfolio of "wear and friction" solutions that help improve safety and reliability in automotive applications.

The MOLYKOTE® and Vespel® range of products are designed to address key challenges faced by automotive and transportation customers, including reducing noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) issues, enhancing vehicle energy efficiency, minimizing power loss due to friction, and boosting safety and reliability.

At the TMC 2024 booth, DuPont team will showcase samples and applications focusing on e-motors, transmissions/reducers, engines, and other critical components. Two specific product highlights will be Vespel® High PV grade resin and MOLYKOTE® D-6818 Anti-Friction Coating .  

Vespel® High PV (pressure-velocity) grade resin is a sintered polyimide material developed to meet the demanding tribological conditions of modern electric vehicles. With the increasing use of compact e-Axle and advanced DHT (dedicated hybrid transmission) designs, planetary gearboxes are subject to higher torque and poor lubricity challenges. Vespel® High PV grade resin offers a solution with its high pressure-velocity (PV) resistant property, which can withstand high loads and speeds without wearing, seizing, or fretting. This material is ideal for applications such as pinion thrust washers in planetary gearboxes.

Meanwhile, MOLYKOTE® D-6818 Anti-Friction Coating (AFC) is a sprayable anti-friction coating designed for engine bearings and other high-load applications. With emission standards rising, engines operate at higher temperatures and pressures, demanding greater wear resistance from engine components. MOLYKOTE® D-6818 Anti-Friction Coating provides excellent wear resistance, enabling it to withstand extremely high loading pressures even under low-viscosity oil conditions. This makes it suitable for use in engine bearings, xEV differential washers, and slide bearings.
